UpMost Alternative for Bouldering Events
When each platform fits — and when it doesn't
Last updated: April 26, 2026
UpMost is the most bouldering-focused competition app on the market, with strong UX and a dedicated user base in Australia and New Zealand. JudgeMate fits organizers outside the AU/NZ region who need free-tier scale, multi-sport coverage, and Polish or EU-language support. Both run scramble-format self-reporting; the practical difference is regional fit and product scope.
What UpMost is
UpMost is a bouldering competition platform built and primarily used in Australia and New Zealand. The product is climbing-only, polished, and focused on the self-reporting scramble flow that defines the AU/NZ comp scene.
UpMost frequently shows up in App Store reviews when organizers describe a clean self-scoring experience. The UX team prioritized the athlete-side interface over organizer dashboards, which shows in the day-of event flow.
Pricing side-by-side
UpMost lists pricing in AUD on its product site (around $20/month billed annually as of 2025). The platform is paid across all events. There is no permanent free tier comparable to TopLogger's 35-user cap.
JudgeMate is free for organizers regardless of athlete count, sport, or event scale.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| UpMost | Annual subscription | ~$20 AUD/month billed annually (2025) | No public cap | Yes |

When UpMost is the right call
Pick UpMost when the event sits inside the AU/NZ ecosystem:
- Australian or New Zealand gym — UpMost is the regional default. Local athletes already have profiles, the app is familiar, and the support team operates in-region time zones.
- Bouldering-only operation — the gym focuses entirely on climbing; multi-sport coverage adds no value.
- Athlete-side UX is the priority — UpMost has invested heavily in self-report polish, which is visible during the event.
For an AU or NZ organizer running a paid bouldering event, UpMost is the path of least resistance.
When JudgeMate is the right call
Pick JudgeMate when the event sits outside AU/NZ or budget rules out a paid platform:
- European, North American, or other non-AU/NZ events — UpMost has no regional infrastructure outside its home markets.
- Polish-market organizers — full Polish UI and PZA-aligned terminology.
- Multi-sport venues — JudgeMate covers 36 sports from one account.
- Free-tier scale — events of any size at zero cost.
- Organizers wanting comparison content for SEO — JudgeMate publishes a pillar plus 6 bouldering guides for organic discovery.
Where JudgeMate falls short
Comparison pages tend to bury the weaknesses of the platform doing the comparing. We will not.
- No AU/NZ regional ecosystem. UpMost has 5+ years of brand presence in Australia and New Zealand. JudgeMate does not have that regional anchor.
- No bouldering-only specialization. UpMost's product team focuses 100% on climbing and reads as more dialed-in to bouldering nuances. JudgeMate splits attention across 36 sports.
- Smaller climbing-specific community footprint. UpMost benefits from word-of-mouth in the AU/NZ comp circuit. JudgeMate does not have equivalent grassroots presence in that region.
For an AU or NZ organizer with budget for a paid platform, UpMost is the simpler call.
Migration path from UpMost
Migration mirrors the pattern from any tier-based comp platform:
- Export athletes from UpMost to CSV — name, gender, date of birth, category fields.
- Create a JudgeMate event and import the CSV.
- Recreate boulder configuration (Flash 15 / Top 10 / Zone 5 default for scramble).
- Generate JudgeMate QR codes and place them at problem stations.
- Run a 30-minute test event before the public competition.
The migration takes about half a working day for a 25-problem scramble with 100-200 athletes. UpMost's CSV export is well-structured, which makes the import less brittle than the Vertical-Life path.
