Turnierplan.eu Alternative for Football Tournaments
Turnierplan.eu builds the schedule for a packed sports hall. JudgeMate adds what happens inside each match: the clock, the cards and the shoot-out.
Turnierplan.eu is a German tournament planner used for football and indoor tournaments. It handles up to 64 participants and 12 groups, offers the Swiss system and double elimination, and runs in 28 languages. The free plan allows 5 tournaments and carries ads and a PDF watermark; Premium costs €4.90 a month and Premium Plus €6.90 (prices read on 27 October 2026). JudgeMate has no paid plan and no ads. For football it adds a live scoreboard with halves, stoppage time, yellow and red cards and a penalty shoot-out, two-legged knockout ties and a referee QR code for each match with a live scoreboard. It does not offer the Swiss system or double elimination.
What Turnierplan.eu is
Turnierplan.eu is a web-based tournament planner from Germany. Its home ground is the winter indoor tournament and the club cup: you enter the teams, pick a format, set pitches, match length and breaks, and it calculates kick-off times for every game. It describes its group and knockout scheduling as following the DFB tournament format.
The format list is long. Groups, leagues (single round or home and away), knockout stages, placement matches for every position, double elimination for 4, 8, 16 or 32 participants and, since version 1.1.0, the Swiss system with Buchholz scoring. A tournament holds up to 64 participants and up to 12 groups, and the site counts more than 100 tournament variants.
On the day, helpers enter results on a phone at the pitch, several match timers can run at once, and a configurable stadium view shows the bracket to spectators. For kids' and fun tournaments there is an optional mode without a table.
Football comes first, but the same planner is offered for esports, darts, volleyball leagues and table tennis, with goals, points, sets or legs. The interface is available in 28 languages, among them German, Polish and Spanish.
Pricing
Turnierplan.eu has three plans. Prices below are from their price list on 27 October 2026, VAT included, billed monthly and cancellable at any time.
| Turnierplan.eu Free | Premium | Premium Plus | JudgeMate | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | €0 | €4.90 / month | €6.90 / month | €0 |
| Tournaments | Up to 5 | Up to 20 | Unlimited | No cap |
| Ads | Yes | Ad-free for all viewers | Ad-free | None |
| With watermark | Without watermark | Without watermark | Match slips, bracket and club list, no watermark | |
| External result submission | Not listed | Yes | Yes | Referee QR code for each match with a live scoreboard, free |
| Live ticker | Not listed | Yes | Yes | Live scoreboard and display view, free |
| Participant registration | Not listed | Not listed | Yes, with management | Club entry, place limit and waiting list, free |
Their features page lists "result entry without login (helper link system)" with no plan attached, while the price list puts "external result submission" only in the two paid plans. A changelog entry from 4 September 2026 ties external result submission to a login-free token. Before you hand out helper links on the free plan, try it in your own account.
At €4.90 a month for one winter season, Premium is cheap. The free plan's limit of 5 tournaments matters more to a club that runs a separate tournament for every age group.
Feature comparison for an indoor football tournament
Turnierplan.eu is strongest at the schedule of a long day with many teams. JudgeMate is stronger once a single match is under way. The rows below follow a typical Saturday in a sports hall.
| Capability | Turnierplan.eu | JudgeMate |
|---|---|---|
| Teams per tournament | Up to 64 | Clubs enter by name; squad up to 23 by default, capped at 30 |
| Groups | Up to 12 | 1 to 4 groups; 1 or 2 go through per group (2, 4 or 8 from a single group); with 3 groups the 1 or 2 best of the next place join them |
| Swiss system | Yes, ten modes | No |
| Double elimination | Yes, 4 to 32 participants | No |
| Placement matches | All positions can be played out | Third-place match and a consolation round |
| Two-legged knockout ties | Not mentioned; leagues can be home and away | Yes: aggregate score, shoot-out if level, no away goals |
| Match times and pitches | Calculated from pitches, match length and breaks | Pitches as resources, automatic slots, clash detection |
| Match clock | Several live timers at once, adjustable by ±1 min or ±10 s while paused | Scoreboard per match: period presets from 8 to 45 minutes, adjustable in 1- or 5-minute steps (minimum 1 minute), 2 to 4 periods, stoppage time, extra time |

Teams can report group and league results if the organiser allows it, and the other side confirms. Knockout, consolation and third-place results are always confirmed by the organiser, including those from the referee scoreboard |
| Hiding the table | Optional mode without a table | Results can stay hidden until the end |
| Walkover | Not mentioned | 3:0 in football, 5:0 in futsal, adjustable |
| Interface languages | 28 | English, Polish, German, Spanish |
When Turnierplan.eu is the better pick
Choose Turnierplan.eu if the hard part is the timetable.
- You have more than four groups. A youth tournament with 40 teams in 10 groups fits their limit of 12 groups. JudgeMate stops at four.
- You want the Swiss system. Pairings are recalculated after every round, with Buchholz scoring and no repeat meetings. JudgeMate does not have it.
- Double elimination is the plan. Every team gets a second chance through a losers' bracket, for 4 to 32 participants.
- Every place has to be played out. Their placement matches decide all positions from first to last. JudgeMate plays a third-place match and a consolation round.
- Your helpers speak other languages. With 28 interface languages, a cross-border youth cup can give each team's coach the planner in their own language.
- The hall needs a stadium view. A configurable view of the bracket for spectators comes with every tournament.
When JudgeMate is the better pick
Choose JudgeMate if the match itself is the problem, or if you do not want to pay for an ad-free season.
- Nothing costs money and nobody sees ads. No tournament limit, no watermark on printouts, no Premium tier for live results.
- The hall has a screen above the pitch. The football scoreboard runs the clock, shows goals, yellow and red cards and the shoot-out, and has a display view for a TV or projector. Pick a half length of 8, 10 or 12 minutes, or adjust it in one-minute steps.
- A semi-final ends level. The shoot-out panel counts five kicks per side, as in IFAB Law 10, then goes to sudden death. The operator confirms the end of the match.
- The knockout rounds have two legs. Turn on home and away ties in a knockout draw. The aggregate decides, a level aggregate goes to penalties, and away goals do not count. The final and the third-place match stay single games.
- Referees keep the score. Each match with a live scoreboard gets a QR code. The referee scans it and runs the clock, goals, cards and shoot-out of that one match, with no account. The result reaches the schedule, table and bracket once you confirm it from the scoreboard with one click, also for several matches at once.
- You play under futsal rules. The futsal scoreboard counts down two halves of 20 minutes, adds up team fouls per half and handles the two-minute numerical penalty after a red card.
- A team does not turn up. The walkover is recorded as 3:0 in football and 5:0 in futsal, and you can change the value.

Where JudgeMate falls short
Against Turnierplan.eu, these gaps matter for an indoor tournament.
- Four groups at most. 40 teams fit into one category in at most 4 groups (for example 4 of 10). A plan of 10 groups of 4 has to be split into several categories.
- No Swiss system, no double elimination. Formats are round robin, knockout and groups into knockout.
- No time penalties on the football scoreboard. Many indoor rules with boards use two-minute penalties. The football scoreboard records goals and cards only, and substitutions are not logged either.
- No federation table rules for football. A league can rank ties by head-to-head first or by goal difference first. In a group, teams level on points are ranked by a head-to-head mini-table, then overall goal difference, then goals scored. Only a tie that survives all of that is settled by you.
- Four languages. English, Polish, German and Spanish, against their 28.
- No emails, no payments. Schedules are not sent to teams. Entry fees are tracked as paid or waived, never collected.
- No link to DFBnet or any other association system.
Using both
On a busy day the two tools can share the work.
- Plan the day in Turnierplan.eu when you need more than four groups, the Swiss system or every place played out.
- Put a JudgeMate scoreboard on the hall screen for the match on the main pitch: start a football scoreboard and open its display view on the TV.
- Run the knockout stage in JudgeMate if it has two legs or you want each referee to have a QR code.
- Expect to type results twice. The two tools do not sync.
