What a water polo scoreboard does

The clock counts down through four quarters of 8 minutes and stops when you stop it. If the teams are level after the fourth, the board adds overtime periods of 3 minutes, then a shoot-out.

Quarters on a countdown clock
The clock starts at 8 minutes and runs down, and you stop it on the whistle. Still level after four quarters? The board adds 3-minute overtime periods, then a shoot-out.
Third exclusion, brutality, penalty shot
The board counts personal exclusions and flags the third one as definitive, so the player is out for the game. Brutality goes in as a 4-minute team penalty with the player out, and a penalty shot gets its own note.

How long is a water polo game?
Four quarters of 8 minutes, with the clock stopping on every whistle. Real time on the pool deck usually runs 60 to 75 minutes. Every goal counts one, so the board only ever adds single goals.
How do exclusions work on the board?
Tap the excluded player and a 20-second timer starts, with a man-up badge on the team in advantage. The board counts personal exclusions and marks the third as definitive, so that player takes no further part. Brutality is separate: a 4-minute team penalty and the player is out for the game.
Can I put the scoreboard on a TV?
Yes. Open the board or its public link in any browser on a TV, laptop or tablet. The layout scales to the screen, and the score updates live as you tap.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
The water polo scoreboard is free and you can create one without signing up. There is no paywall and no ads on the public view. An account only matters if you want to save a game for later.
