A water polo scoreboard tracks one game: goals for each team, the quarter, the clock and every exclusion running against a team. JudgeMate keeps all of it on one screen and updates the score the moment you tap.
The clock counts down through four quarters of 8 minutes and stops when you stop it. If the teams are level after the fourth, the board offers one optional 3-minute overtime period, then a shoot-out. World Aquatics rules have no overtime, so under them you skip it and go straight to the shoot-out.

Log an exclusion and the board runs the 20-second countdown for that player. A man-up badge marks the team swimming with the extra field player.
Quarters on a countdown clock
The clock starts at 8 minutes and runs down, and you stop it on the whistle. Still level after four quarters? The board offers one optional 3-minute overtime period, then a shoot-out.
Personal fouls, violent action, penalty shot
The board counts each player's exclusions and flags the third one as definitive, so the player is out for the game. World Aquatics also counts penalty fouls toward those three personal fouls; the board does not, so track them yourself. Violent action (the board's Brutality button) goes in as a 4-minute team penalty with the player out, and a penalty shot gets its own note.

Water polo scoreboard FAQ
How long is a water polo game?
Four quarters of 8 minutes, with the clock stopping on every whistle. Real time on the pool deck usually runs 60 to 75 minutes. Every goal counts one, so the board only ever adds single goals.
How do exclusions work on the board?
Tap the excluded player and a 20-second timer starts, with a man-up badge on the team in advantage. The board counts each player's exclusions and marks the third as definitive, so that player takes no further part. Under World Aquatics rules penalty fouls also count toward the three personal fouls; the board does not count them, so track those yourself. Violent action (the Brutality button on the board) is separate: a 4-minute team penalty and the player is out for the game.
Can I put the scoreboard on a TV?
Yes. Open the board or its public link in any browser on a TV, laptop or tablet. The layout scales to the screen, and the score updates live as you tap.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
The water polo scoreboard is free and you can create one without signing up. There is no paywall and no ads on the public view. An account only matters if you want to save a game for later.
Does it handle a whole tournament?
No. This board scores one game at a time, from first sprint to final whistle. Leagues and standings live in a separate part of JudgeMate.
