Cheerleading Competition Software Compared

Five platforms, and the one feature that decides it for some producers

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Cheer software splits along a line that has nothing to do with scoring: registration versus judging versus video. Some platforms are built to take entries, some to run the panel, and one is built around replay synchronised to the deductions. Most producers need two of the three. This page says which is which, what each costs where pricing is published, and marks the capability we do not have.

Five platforms at a glance

The column that matters most is the middle one: what the platform is actually for. Several of these are excellent at one job and were never built for the other two.

Our methodology, and what we do not have

Built from public product pages and pricing read in August 2026. Where a vendor publishes rates we quote them with the date; where pricing is per-quote we say so rather than estimate.

The capability we do not have is video replay. Themis and CheerReplay build their product around 4K footage synchronised to the deduction timeline, so a coach can see the moment a deduction was taken. That is a genuine differentiator for large producers and we do not offer it in any form. If replay is why you are shopping, this page ends here for you.

A pricing note worth carrying into any conversation: CompetitionSuite advertises that judges cost nothing, and it is right to. Charging per judge punishes exactly the thing that makes a result trustworthy — a bigger panel. Any quote that scales with the number of officials deserves a question.

CompetitionSuite — per performance, judges free

Built around the judging desk: audio commentary from judges alongside the numeric sheet, across cheer, dance and the performing arts world it originally came from. Priced per performance in published tiers rather than by subscription or contract, which makes cost predictable for a one-off event and for a series alike.

The audio commentary is the part worth noticing. A coach receiving a recording of a judge talking through a routine gets something a scoresheet cannot express, and it is the reason a lot of programmes stay.

Where an alternative makes sense: an event outside the US cheer ecosystem, an organisation running cheer alongside other sports, or a producer who wants registration and judging in one place rather than two.

RegChamp and ZipRegistration — the entry side

These solve the half of the problem that happens before the mat: entries, rosters, waivers, payments, schedules. For a producer running several events a season that work is substantial and specialised, and a general-purpose form is not a substitute.

What to check: how the entry data reaches whatever is scoring the event. Two good systems with a manual export between them is the point where a division gets missed or a roster arrives stale, and it is worth resolving before the season rather than during it.

Themis and CheerReplay — replay as the product

Video synchronised with the deduction timeline: the coach sees the skill and the deduction together. In a sport where the difference between a deduction and an illegality is contested in real time, that changes the conversation at the appeals table.

This is a production-scale tool with production-scale cost, quoted per event. It is not the same category of purchase as a scoring platform, and for many organisers it is a second system rather than a replacement.

We do not compete here and do not claim to.

JudgeMate (us)

Free for organizers with no caps, no per-performance fee and no commission. For cheer that means panel scoring with federation presets — ICU, USASF and IASF — and the parts of the model that most generic tools flatten:

  • Deductions in two scopes. A penalty from one judge comes off that judge's score before the panel is trimmed; a penalty against the routine comes off the panel value. The order changes the number, and the product applies it the way the rulebooks do.
  • Legality as a separate role. A legality official is not a scoring judge — USASF states that directly — so violations are their own thing and can disqualify rather than subtract.
  • Tie rules as configuration, not a constant. USASF numbers places densely, so two teams tied for second are followed by third. Other bodies number sportingly, with fourth. Both are supported because both are somebody's rulebook.

Also included: rounds as linked categories, award levels, entry formats up to club, live public results, a jumbotron view, PDF and CSV export, and full Polish and German interfaces.

Weaknesses: no video replay; no per-judge analytics; no US cheer registration ecosystem integrations. We are a scoring and results platform that also handles entries, not a replacement for a dedicated registration business.
