Free Table Tennis Scoreboard App
Track Points, Sets to 11 & Deuce at 10-10 — No Clock, Pure Set-Based Scoring
Last updated: April 6, 2026
JudgeMate's Free Scoreboard supports table tennis with set tracking to 11 points, automatic deuce detection at 10-10, and best-of-5 match format. Create a board in one tap, track points with +/- buttons, and the system handles set management automatically — including the 2-point advantage rule. Share a live link or QR code with spectators. No account, no app download, completely free.
Step 1 — Create a Table Tennis Scoreboard
Creating a table tennis scoreboard takes about 5 seconds:
- Go to the Free Scoreboard page on JudgeMate.
- Select Table Tennis from the available sports.
- Tap "Create Scoreboard".
The system instantly generates two links:
- An admin link (with a secret token) — this is your control panel. Bookmark it.
- A spectator link (no token) — this is what players and viewers see.
Important: The admin link is the only way to control the board. If you lose it, you cannot regain access. Save it to your bookmarks or send it to yourself before the match starts.
No account registration is needed. No app download. The scoreboard works entirely in the browser on any device — phone, tablet, laptop, or TV screen.
Step 2 — Game Setup
After creating the board, you'll see the Setup Screen where you configure the match:
Player Names:
- Type up to 20 characters per player.
- Default names are HOME and GUEST — change them to the actual player names.
Player Colors:
- Pick from 12 preset colors: red, orange, amber, lime, green, teal, cyan, blue, purple, pink, gray, white.
- Colors appear on the spectator screen as player identifiers.
Start the Match:
- Tap "Start Game" when both players are ready.
- While in setup, spectators see a waiting screen: "Game Starting Soon — Waiting for the host to start..."
- Once you tap Start, the board goes LIVE and spectators see the score in real-time.
You can take your time in setup — there is no time limit. The match only begins when you tap Start.
Step 3 — Score Controls (+1/−1)
The score area is split into two zones:
- Left half — Player 1 (Home)
- Right half — Player 2 (Guest)
Each side has:
- A large "+" button to add 1 point.
- A smaller "−" button to subtract 1 point (for corrections).
Key behaviors:
- The score never drops below 0 — tapping minus at 0 does nothing.
- Every tap updates the spectator screen instantly — there is no delay.
- Points are tracked per set. When a set ends and a new one begins, both scores reset to 0.
Table tennis uses simple +1 scoring because every rally is worth exactly 1 point. There are no multi-point plays like in basketball.
Tip for fast rallies: The buttons have generous tap targets and respond immediately. Table tennis rallies can be rapid-fire — the buttons are designed to keep up with even the fastest exchanges.
No Clock — Table Tennis Is Pure Points
Table tennis has no game clock. There is no countdown timer, no running stopwatch, no period clock. A set ends when a player reaches 11 points (with a 2-point advantage at deuce), and a match ends when a player wins 3 sets.
In JudgeMate's table tennis mode:
- The clock controls section is completely hidden — no START/PAUSE buttons, no time adjustment, no quick-jump buttons.
- The spectator view shows only the score, set count, and set history — no time display.
- There is nothing to configure, start, or pause time-wise.
This makes table tennis the simplest sport to manage in JudgeMate. If you've never used a digital scoreboard before, table tennis is the easiest starting point — just add points and the system handles everything else.
Note: The only time-related rule in table tennis is the expedite system (activated if a set exceeds 10 minutes with fewer than 18 points), but this is extremely rare and is managed by the umpire, not the scoreboard.
Set Management — Auto Detection, Deuce & History
JudgeMate's table tennis scoreboard handles set transitions intelligently:
Auto set-end detection: When a player reaches 11 points with a 2-point advantage, a pulsing "End Set" button appears automatically. Examples:
- Score 11-8 → button appears (11 reached, lead of 3)
- Score 11-9 → button appears (11 reached, lead of 2)
- Score 11-10 → button does NOT appear (lead of only 1 — deuce territory)
- Score 12-10 → button appears (2-point lead achieved in deuce)
- Score 13-11 → button appears (2-point lead achieved in deuce)
Deuce at 10-10: When both players reach 10, the scoreboard enters deuce mode. The key change in deuce: serves alternate every single point (instead of every 2). The set continues until one player leads by 2 — there is no cap. The scoreboard tracks this automatically.
What happens when you tap "End Set":
- The set score is recorded in the history (e.g., Set 1: 11-8).
- Both scores reset to 0-0.
- The set counter advances to the next set.
- If it is now set 5, the display indicates the deciding set.
Set History Display: Completed sets appear as a running log visible to both admin and spectators:
- Set 1: 11-8
- Set 2: 9-11
- Set 3: 11-6
- ...
Automatic match end: The match ends automatically when either player wins 3 sets (best of 5). The scoreboard status changes to ENDED and the score freezes for all spectators.
Sharing with Spectators & Font Size Control
Sharing the live score: Tap the "Share" button in the top bar to open the share modal:
- QR Code — spectators scan it with their phone camera to open the live scoreboard.
- Link — copy and send via any messenger (WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email).
- Native share — use your phone's built-in share sheet (if supported).
Anyone with the link can follow the match. No login, no app download — just open it in a web browser. Works on phones, tablets, laptops, Smart TVs, and projectors.
Font size remote control: As the admin, you control the text size on all spectator screens:
- A− / A+ buttons adjust the font scale.
- Range: 50% to 300% of the default size.
- Ideal for venues where the scoreboard is displayed on a large screen — scale up so everyone in the room can read the score from a distance.
Spectators can also adjust their own local font size (range: 70%-160%) by tapping their screen, but the admin's global setting applies to all connected spectator screens.
Perfect for club nights: Project the spectator view onto a TV or monitor in the club room. Players at other tables can glance over and follow the match without interrupting. The QR code makes it easy to share the link with everyone in the room instantly.
Ending the Match & Post-Game Options
Automatic ending: The match ends automatically when a player wins 3 sets. After the final set's "End Set" button is tapped, the board transitions to the ENDED state.
Manual ending: You can also end the match at any time by tapping "End Game" in the top bar. A confirmation dialog appears: "End game? This will freeze the score for all spectators." Tap "Yes, End Game" to confirm.
What happens after the match ends:
- The score is permanently frozen — no one can modify it.
- Spectators see the final score with an "ENDED" label.
- The admin panel shows a match summary with all set scores.
Post-game actions:
- "New Game — Same Teams" — creates a new scoreboard with the same player names and colors. One tap, instant rematch. Perfect for best-of-3-match club tournaments.
- "New Game — Change Sport" — takes you back to the sport selection screen.
- "Share Final Results" — opens the share modal so you can send the final score to players or tournament organizers.
How long does the board last? Completed scoreboards remain accessible for up to one week. After that, the board expires. Save or screenshot the final results if you need a permanent record.
Tournament tip: For multi-match events, create a new board for each match. The process takes 5 seconds — select table tennis, enter names, start. Keep admin links for all boards bookmarked so you can reference results later.
